The park extends over 20 hectares of land with two connected lakes, multiple walking paths, gardens, and recreational zones for various activities.
Russian soldiers from the Libava Regiment established this urban green space in 1906, initially covering 4 hectares of land in the city center.
The park, renamed to First of May Park, functions as a primary location for outdoor concerts, community celebrations, and seasonal festivities throughout the year.
Visitors can access both Upper and Lower Lakes via newly constructed bridges, while iron fences along the water ensure safety for all guests.
The park contains several uncommon tree species for this part of Europe, including platanus, tamarisk, elm, and serpentine spruce varieties.
