Complutense University was an academic institution in Alcalá de Henares with multiple buildings housing lecture halls, libraries, and student residences. The campus also included a printing press that produced academic and religious texts for circulation across Spanish territories.
Cardinal Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros founded the university in 1499 as a center for higher learning. It closed in 1836 after serving as a leading academic institution in Castile for three centuries.
The university fostered intellectual development through its studies in theology, philosophy, and arts, attracting scholars from different regions of Spain and Europe.
