L'Alcúdia, Medieval coastal town in northern Mallorca, Spain

L'Alcúdia is a municipality spanning two bays with a fortified old town center enclosed by medieval walls and towers. The area also includes the modern beach resort of Port d'Alcúdia stretching along the Mediterranean coastline.

Roman Pollentia was established here as a capital in the 2nd century BC and served as a major administrative and trade hub. Medieval fortifications with walls and towers were later built to defend the settlement against pirate raids.

The weekly market on Tuesdays and Sundays reveals local crafts and regional products that connect the community to its agricultural past. Walking through the stalls, you notice how traditional island life continues in daily commerce.

The location is well served by buses with connections to Palma Airport taking roughly 40 minutes, and regular services run throughout the northern region. The old town walls are easy to walk around, and beaches lie just outside the center.

The Porta de Moll gateway features two square towers from the 14th century that showcase medieval defense architecture of that period. This entrance point stands as one of the best-preserved examples of island fortification design.
