Pollentia, Roman archaeological settlement in Alcúdia, Spain.
Pollentia is a Roman settlement spread across a large area with residential buildings, public gathering spaces, and a forum that served as the town center. The ruins show the typical layout of a Roman city with different zones for living, commerce, and civic activities.
The settlement was established in ancient times and served as an important center in the region for several centuries. It gradually declined and was eventually abandoned as power shifted to other locations.
The House of Two Treasures reveals how wealthy Roman families organized their daily lives around a central courtyard with distinct living spaces. Walking through it, visitors can still see fragments of mosaics and household objects that reflect the routines of those who lived there.
The site is walkable and spacious enough to explore the different areas comfortably on foot. Combining it with the adjacent museum provides a fuller understanding of what you see scattered across the grounds.
The site includes a Roman theater that once seated around 800 spectators and sat strategically between two bays. This location allowed the town to control important shipping routes and observe merchant vessels crossing the Mediterranean.
