Miraflores de la Sierra is a mountain municipality located in the northern reaches of Madrid's territory, sitting at roughly 1,150 meters above sea level. The town spreads across a forested ridge with views toward the Guadarrama mountains.
Farmers from the Segovia region established this settlement in the 13th century under the name Porquerizas. It was renamed in the early 17th century by Elisabeth of Bourbon.
The municipality honors its traditions through annual celebrations, including the Virgen de la Asunción festivities starting from August 15.
The town is accessible by bus and sits along regular routes connecting to Madrid. It serves as a good base for exploring the surrounding mountain paths and outdoor activities in the area.
