Erandio

Erandio is a municipality in Biscay Province that stretches across flat land near the Nervión River. The area combines residential neighborhoods with green spaces and has good road and transit links to Bilbao.

The area started as a rural coastal settlement and grew as Bilbao expanded over time. In the 1400s, conflicts between local groups took place here, leaving marks on the region.

The municipality keeps Basque traditions alive through yearly celebrations and local events that shape community life. You notice this during festival times when neighbors gather in the streets.

The municipality is well served by Metro Bilbao lines and local buses that run regularly to neighboring areas and the city center. The flat terrain makes walking routes practical and easy to navigate.

For many years the river served as an important route with local boats that carried residents between the banks. This water transport tradition only came to an end in recent years.
