Ibiza Airport, International airport in Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Spain
Ibiza Airport is an international facility on the Balearic island with a single runway measuring roughly 2,800 meters (9,190 feet). The site consists of one passenger terminal with several gates and processing areas for domestic and international departures.
A military airfield appeared here during the Spanish Civil War and was later converted for civilian purposes. Commercial operations officially began in 1949 and connected the island with mainland Spain.
The terminal walls let in plenty of daylight through large windows that give the space a bright Mediterranean feel. Travelers from all over Europe fill the halls during summer with beach bags and casual holiday clothes.
Regular buses run from the airport into Ibiza Town, with Line 10 departing every half hour between the terminal and the central station. Arrivals and departures cluster in the morning and afternoon hours during the high season.
The terminal handles more than eight million travelers each year despite its relatively compact layout. This high volume makes operations a logistical challenge especially in July and August.
