Santuario de San Salvador

The Santuario de San Salvador is a religious sanctuary located on the Puig de Sant Salvador near Felanitx. The white stone building sits on a hilltop and is topped by a large Christ statue visible from great distances across the island.

A chapel was built in the 14th century following a plague epidemic on orders from the local ruler. Over time the original structure was expanded and transformed into the sanctuary that stands today.

The sanctuary draws pilgrims who come to pray and seek spiritual connection in a place set apart from daily life. People visit to experience a sense of devotion while standing at a height that feels closer to the sacred.

The site can be reached by car or on foot and offers lodging for those who wish to stay longer. There is also a restaurant and a shop selling religious items and local products.

Inside the sanctuary stands a rare Gothic altarpiece from the 15th century depicting the Passion of Christ, the only known example of its kind on the island. This artwork makes the sanctuary a special place for those interested in medieval religious art.
