Segovia Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in Segovia, Spain.

Segovia Cathedral is a Gothic structure with three tall naves divided by columns and lined with side chapels along the walls. Behind the main altar lies a semicircular sanctuary with a passage that lets visitors walk around the choir area.

Construction began in 1525 following a fire that destroyed an earlier church during local upheaval. The new building rose as the city worked to recover and rebuild after that turbulent time.

The chapels inside hold paintings, sculptures, and religious objects that span many centuries. You can see how worshippers have decorated their prayer spaces over time with works that matter deeply to the community.

The interior offers various spaces to explore at your own pace, with some areas visible from the main nave and others tucked away in side chapels. Climbing the bell tower requires stamina but rewards you with sweeping views across the medieval town.

The cloister came from an earlier church and was carefully moved stone by stone to this new location. This painstaking effort shows how much the city valued preserving what had come before, even while starting fresh.
