Teix, Mountain peak in Serra de Tramuntana, Mallorca, Spain.
Teix is a limestone summit in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range located between the villages of Deià and Bunyola. The peak features steep rock faces and a network of hiking routes that cross through forests and rocky terrain with varying difficulty levels.
Evidence of ancient settlements appears around the mountain in the form of old stone structures left by early inhabitants. These remains suggest the location served as a vantage point for watching maritime routes in the Mediterranean.
The mountain paths of Puig des Teix influenced the works of British author Robert Graves, who resided in Deià and referenced the landscapes in his literature.
The main trail starting point is near Valldemossa where clear markers guide walkers through the route. Bring plenty of water and start early in the day since the walk takes several hours of continuous hiking over uneven terrain.
Safety cables run along the most treacherous descent sections, providing extra security for experienced hikers navigating steep drops. This setup allows adventurous walkers to take the most challenging routes that lead down toward either Sóller or Deià.
