Orcera

Orcera is a municipality in the Sierra de Segura positioned at roughly 800 meters elevation. The settlement spreads across a mountain area with white-painted houses and traditional stone structures that define its rural character.

Archaeological finds show human settlement in this area dating back to the Bronze Age. By the 11th century, the territory formed part of the Taifa kingdom of Saqura before following its own path through later centuries.

The village preserves mountain traditions through its everyday rhythms, with whitewashed streets and old buildings that shape its character. Local customs remain tied to the surrounding landscape and the way people live within this rural community.

Visiting works best during warmer months when the mountain landscape is most accessible for exploration. Plan for steep terrain and bring proper footwear, as the area involves traditional rural pathways and mountain slopes.

This small mountain village contains a large swimming pool covering 1,000 square meters, an unexpected facility set within the alpine landscape. The pool serves as a recreation center for both residents and visitors during the summer months.
