La Pobla de Vallbona, human settlement in Camp de Túria, Valencia Province, Valencian Community, Spain
La Pobla de Vallbona is a municipality in the Camp de Túria region, in the Valencian Community of eastern Spain, located a short distance from Valencia. The town sits on flat ground and consists of an old center with a grid street layout surrounded by newer residential areas that have grown around it.
The area was already inhabited in ancient times by Iberian and Roman peoples, as shown by finds of pottery and weaving tools. The present town was officially founded in 1382 through a Carta Pobla that established an organized Christian settlement on this site.
The name of the town comes from the medieval Carta Pobla, a founding charter that recognized it as a Christian settlement. This origin is still visible in the straight streets of the old center, which you can notice while walking through the narrow lanes.
The town center is easy to explore on foot since the ground is completely flat and the paths are straightforward. For walks in nature, the banks of the Turia river nearby offer a pleasant route throughout the year.
On the outskirts of the town, dry-stone walls and old hiking paths known as Cachirulos show how people once built without mortar. These structures served for centuries as field and livestock boundaries, and some are now partly recognized as traces of traditional rural life.
