Villa romana de Pared de los Moros

Villa romana de Pared de los Moros, Archaeological site in Niharra, Spain.

Villa romana de Pared de los Moros is an archaeological site near Niharra on the banks of the Adaja River. Excavations have revealed building foundations made of Roman concrete and stone, along with pottery remains and a burial ground from several periods.

The site shows occupation from the Bronze Age with storage pits from the middle Bronze period. Later it was used as a Roman estate, with coins and pottery from the 3rd and 4th centuries indicating continued use over centuries.

The site shows evidence of different peoples living here across centuries, from early settlers to the Romans of later times. The pottery and objects discovered reveal how communities used this place for daily life and work.

The site lies about one kilometer west of Niharra's downtown and is located on municipal protected land that is open to visitors. Sturdy shoes and weather protection are recommended, as the area is open ground exposed to the elements.

During excavations in 1984, a late imperial tomb with roof tiles was discovered and is now on display at the Museum of Ávila. This find is notable because it shows how the dead were buried in this region during that time period.
