Royal Palace of Riofrío, Royal Palace in San Ildefonso, Spain
The Royal Palace of Riofrío features a square layout with a central courtyard, incorporating Italian architecture with French influences and pink-green exterior tones.
Construction of the palace began in 1751 under architect Vigilio Rabaglio, commissioned by Isabel de Farnesio, second wife of King Felipe V of Spain.
The palace chapel represents Spanish religious architecture, designed specifically for Queen Isabel and her son's private ceremonies without grand celebrations.
The palace opens Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours from April to September, and remains closed on Mondays throughout the year.
The surrounding Royal Mount of Riofrío encompasses 700 hectares of protected land, serving as a historical hunting ground from the reign of Charles III.
