Plaza de toros de Segovia

The Plaza de Toros de Segovia is a bullring built from brick and stone with a circular shape designed to hold about 7,000 spectators. The structure was created specifically for traditional bullfighting events and remains the main venue where these performances take place.

Construction of this bullring started in 1801, and the first event took place in 1803, though the building was not fully completed until 1805. The structure has endured for more than two centuries despite undergoing various repairs and modifications over time.

Before this arena was built, bullfighting events happened in Segovia's main square, and moving them here reflected how the city organized its public traditions differently. This shift marked a change in where and how locals gathered for their cultural practices.

The best time to visit is during the San Pedro festivities at the end of June when regular events are held. Tickets are available through local vendors, and it is wise to book early since popular events can sell out quickly.

This is the oldest bullring in the Castilla y León region, having stood for more than two centuries with remarkable durability. Multiple architects have worked on its restoration over time, showing how much the city values its preservation.
