Tellamendi

Tellamendi is a mountain summit in the Sierra de Anboto reaching 835 meters high, with exposed rock formations and steep slopes. The peak sits at the intersection of three provincial territories with dramatic terrain and open views across the surrounding ridges.

The summit has marked the boundary between three Basque provinces since medieval times when regional borders were established. This triple border location gave the mountain significance as a natural territorial marker in the region's geography.

Local mountaineering clubs organize regular group expeditions to Tellamendi, maintaining traditional hiking routes and sharing knowledge about the mountain paths.

The GR-12 hiking trail provides direct access from Besaide starting at 564 meters with clear path markers throughout the established routes. Visitors should expect exposed terrain and rocky ground that requires sturdy footwear for the climb.

From the summit, three different Basque provinces meet at a single geographical point where their borders converge. This rare triple junction of provincial territories is visible from the peak and marks an unusual meeting of regional boundaries.
