Hermitage of Sant Antoni, Peniscola

The Hermitage of Sant Antoni is a baroque religious building set on a hilltop near Peniscola that overlooks the Mediterranean. The structure displays the characteristic narrow proportions of its period, built with simple materials and traditional techniques typical of hermitage design.

The building was constructed in 1688 and represents a period when religious communities were establishing remote sanctuaries in this mountain region. A significant modification happened in the early 18th century when the residential house adjoining the chapel was rebuilt.
