The Plaza del Obispo features a central marble fountain from 1785 with two basins and a decorative pine cone structure at its top.
The square originated during the Moorish period and gained its current appearance with the completion of the cathedral facade in the 18th century.
The square, episcopal palace, and cathedral served as filming locations for The Bridge of San Luis Rey movie, representing colonial Peru.
Located at the intersection of Molina Lario and Salinas streets, the square provides access to numerous restaurants and gathering spaces.
During renovations in the 1990s, workers discovered remains of ancient Roman and Byzantine walls beneath the square.
