The Palace of Laredo is a building in Neo-Gothic and Mudejar style with brick walls, a clock tower with minaret design, and a dome decorated with green and white ceramic scales. Its exterior combines different architectural influences and displays impressive craftsmanship.
Manuel José de Laredo designed and built this residence between 1880 and 1884, incorporating architectural elements from buildings in Toledo, Jaén, and Guadalajara. The project arose during a period of significant personal art patronage in Spain.
The Hall of Kings displays frescoes with monarchs of the Crown of Castile, including Alfonso X and Charles V, painted by Manuel José de Laredo in elaborate detail and vivid colors.
The building houses the International Center for Cisneros Historical Studies and a museum displaying a complete copy of the Complutense Polyglot Bible. Visitors can explore both collections in a single visit.
The ceiling in one of the interior rooms features an astronomical vault with constellations that light up when sunlight passes through stained glass windows. This rare feature creates a surprising moment while exploring the interior.
