Ciudad Universitaria

Ciudad Universitaria is a neighborhood in Moncloa-Aravaca organized around multiple major universities and their facilities. The area spreads across many hectares with faculty buildings, student residences, green spaces, and various research and educational facilities.

The neighborhood developed starting in the 1920s as a new campus for Madrid's university, inspired by American university designs. The first buildings – a hospital and several faculties – were constructed following these modern models.

The neighborhood hosts several museums and cultural spaces that shape student life and gatherings. Young people from different backgrounds meet here and create a space with international character.

The neighborhood has many rental apartments and student accommodations available for short or long stays. Good public transportation links it easily to central Madrid and other parts of the city.

Within the area sits a botanical garden situated between the science faculties containing hundreds of different plant species. It is a quiet place that many visitors overlook, even though it is freely accessible.
