Fort San Cristóbal

Fuerte de San Cristóbal is a military fortress near Pamplona that extends across multiple underground levels. Stone walls, bastions, and an extensive network of galleries run deep within the mountain beneath the surface.

Construction began in 1892 as a military installation and later became a prison during the Spanish Civil War. The site became a place of confinement for many during that turbulent period.

A memorial on site honors those who died while imprisoned here until 1945. The place serves as a reminder of difficult times and how spaces hold the memory of people who suffered.
