Casa Fajol

Casa Fajol is a six-story residential building with a narrow facade that rises prominently along Llança street. Long balconies with wrought iron railings feature floral ornaments, and the structure houses fourteen apartments within its modernist design.

Architect Josep Graner i Prat designed this residential building between 1911 and 1929 for property owner Salvio Fajol in Barcelona's Eixample district. The construction occurred during a period when Catalan architects were creating modernist residences with ornamental details throughout the city.

The ceramic panels and sgraffito decorations in the foyer show artistic techniques that define Catalan modernist design. These handcrafted details throughout the interior reflect the artistic preferences of early 20th century Barcelona.

The building sits on Llança street near the former Las Arenas bullring in the neighborhood. Walking through the area allows visitors to view the facade and its ornamental details from the street.

A semicircular butterfly-shaped mosaic made from colored ceramic pieces adorns the top of the facade. This carefully crafted detail is often overlooked by passersby but stands as one of the building's most striking features.
