Castle of Castilnovo

Castle of Castilnovo is a medieval fortress in the Condado de Castilnovo region with a rectangular layout and six towers of varied shapes, circular and square. The windows feature pointed horseshoe arches, and the structure is built predominantly in brick.

The structure originated between the 8th and 10th centuries during Muslim rule in the region. Later it came under the control of King Henry IV of Castile in the 14th century.

The building displays Mudéjar architectural style, where Islamic building techniques merged with Christian elements through its distinctive arches and brickwork patterns. This fusion reflects the coexistence of cultures that shaped medieval Spain.

The site is accessible from the main road and offers adequate parking space along with pedestrian pathways around the grounds. Access to certain sections may vary seasonally or during events, so it helps to check conditions beforehand.

The grounds contain a camping area named after Hernán Cortés, the historical conquistador. This connection to Spanish-Mexican heritage makes the location more than just a historical site today.
