Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park, Protected natural park near Sepúlveda, Spain.
The Duratón River has carved limestone gorges with vertical walls reaching heights of 100 meters through the province of Segovia.
The regional government established this 5,037-hectare protected area in 1989 to preserve the natural environment and geological formations.
A monastery from the 8th century dedicated to Saint Fructus stands within the park boundaries, marking his time as a hermit in these lands.
Visitors can explore the park through two main routes: one along the cliff tops and another following the riverbank at the bottom of the gorges.
The park contains the largest colony of griffon vultures in Spain, with over 500 pairs nesting along the limestone cliffs.
