The castle stands at 830 meters above sea level with a polygonal layout and features a prominent square tower reaching 17 meters in height.
The Almohad forces constructed the fortress in the early 13th century, and King James I conquered it in 1248, granting it to Bernard of Tous.
The castle houses the Museu Fester, which displays exhibitions about local festivities and traditions of the Banyeres de Mariola region.
Visitors can access the castle on weekends and holidays between 11:30-14:00 and 16:30-19:00, with guided tours available through the different levels.
From the castle tower, observers can see across four different Spanish provinces: Albacete, Murcia, Alicante, and Valencia.
