Basilica of Saint Joseph Oriol

The Basilica of Saint Joseph Oriol is a Catholic church with two symmetrical bell towers and a classical facade. The interior contains multiple side chapels arranged along the main nave.

Construction began in 1915 under architect Enric Sagnier and the church received its basilica designation from Pope Pius XI in 1936. The building underwent significant restoration in the decades following wartime damage.

The basilica is named after a Catalan saint and reflects the religious devotion of the neighborhood. Inside, the various chapels serve as spaces where locals and visitors can witness different forms of prayer and remembrance.

The basilica is easily accessible in the city center and remains open for religious services and visits. Visitors should be aware that access to certain areas may be restricted during active services.

The church suffered fire damage during the Spanish Civil War that required over a decade of restoration work. The reconstructed interior spaces reveal how dedicated craftsmanship returned the building to its former condition.
