Casa Carbonell

Casa Carbonell is an early 20th-century residential building on Alicante's waterfront that blends historicist and baroque-style features. The structure features domed roofs, towers, and classical columns on its facades that draw inspiration from French architecture.

Architect Juan Vidal Ramos designed the building in 1920 for textile entrepreneur Enrique Carbonell on the site where the old harbor market once stood. The project emerged during a time when Alicante was growing as a trading city and wealthy merchants wanted to build prominent structures.

The building shows how wealthy merchants of that era designed their homes and which European styles they admired. The facade with its columned elements was a sign of wealth and taste in Alicante at the time.

The building houses private residences and offices and sits near Postiguet Beach and the Sports Marina. Its location allows visitors to view the architecture from outside and explore the waterfront area of this part of town.

The hemispherical domes are covered in gray slate shingles and display decorative garlands and oval medallions. These details are hallmarks of baroque style and stand out against the otherwise more modern waterfront of Alicante.
