Convento de las Carmelitas Descalzas de San José, Toledo, Carmelite convent in Toledo, Spain.

The Carmelite convent features a Latin cross church with a single nave, dome supported by pendentives, and Tuscan pilasters along interior walls.

Saint Teresa of Avila established the Discalced Carmelite community in Toledo in 1569, initially settling in the Jewish quarter before relocating.

The convent church, designed by architect Fray Alberto de la Madre de Dios, displays ornate plasterwork created by Diego Benavides and Lucas del Valle.

Visitors can purchase homemade jams produced by the eleven nuns who maintain the convent through a traditional turnstile in the parlor.

The convent buildings incorporate a 16th-century mansion with Mannerist elements, built against Toledo's city walls by Fernando de la Cerda.
