Embalse de Encinas de Esgueva, Stausee in Spanien
The Embalse de Encinas de Esgueva is a reservoir in Valladolid Province that was built in 1977 and covers about 13 hectares. The dam is constructed from earth and concrete, rises approximately 20 meters high, and spans roughly 173 meters across the Esgueva River.
The reservoir was built in 1977 following engineer J. Rodríguez Ortiz's design to store water for irrigation and flood control in the farming region. The construction reflects the area's shift toward modern water management to support agricultural communities.
The reservoir is easily accessible by car with parking available nearby, and the paths around the water are well maintained and easy to walk. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant weather for visiting, when the surroundings are green and comfortable.
The water holds several fish species including carp weighing over 15 kilograms, plus barbel and pike, making it a popular spot for anglers. A small rest area with shelter and a botanical trail let visitors explore local plants and enjoy peaceful moments by the shore.
