Ermita de los Enebrales, Tamajón

The Ermita de los Enebrales is a church with Romanesque elements and simple construction set in a rural valley setting. Its stone walls enclose a rectangular nave topped by a ribbed vault of Gothic influence, creating a modest yet dignified interior space.

The structure originates from the 16th century and underwent significant renovation during the 18th century, blending Romanesque and Renaissance design principles. These restoration efforts shaped the form we see today.

The interior holds a sacred image known locally as La Serrana, which draws pilgrims and residents from across the region who come to pay their respects.

The location sits about 1.8 kilometers from Tamajón along the GU-186 road toward Majaelrayo and offers parking for visitors. The accessible site makes it straightforward to explore this corner of the countryside.

The south portico displays twenty-two different mason marks carved by the craftsmen who worked on the construction. Its keystone also bears the coat of arms of the Mendoza family, suggesting a connection to a prominent local lineage.
