The church features three naves with semicircular apses, wooden roofing, and a stone construction marked by distinctive stonemason signatures throughout the structure.
Construction began in 1181 under the direction of Aldonza, daughter of counts Osorio Martinez and Teresa Fernandez, with guidance from the Hospitaller Order.
The southern portal displays detailed religious sculptures, including representations of Christ's birth and figures of prophets Moses and David on its columns.
Located at Plazuela de San Juan 2 in Benavente, the church remains open to visitors from March through December with seasonal schedule variations.
The building contains 2,830 stonemason marks of 533 different types, carved into sandstone blocks with axe-cut techniques.
