Iglesia de Santa María de la Mesa, Baroque parish church in Zahara de la Sierra, Spain
The church features a Latin cross layout with a central nave broader than its lateral sections, crowned by an orange-shaped dome above the transept.
Construction of the church took place between 1742 and 1779 under architect Antonio de Figueroa, who designed the tower, covers, and main portal.
The central chapel houses an 18th-century sculpture of Saint María de la Mesa holding the Child and a flower, representing local religious traditions.
Located near the castle and opposite the town hall, the church maintains regular visiting hours and remains an active center for religious ceremonies.
The interior contains a pulpit from 1780 decorated with Chinese-style motifs and topped by an angel holding a trumpet.
