Iglesia de San Juan

This medieval stone church features a single nave with semicircular apse, decorated with carved capitals depicting biblical scenes and geometric patterns throughout its interior walls.

Built in 1134 according to inscriptions found within the structure, the church underwent major reconstruction in 1780 when the apse was dismantled and rebuilt using original materials.

The church serves as an important example of Asturian Romanesque architecture, showcasing carved capitals with Old Testament scenes and medieval iconography that reflects regional artistic traditions.

Open from July to September daily between 11:30-13:30 and 17:00-19:00, and during October to June on Tuesdays and Saturdays only, remaining closed on Mondays year-round.

The interior features a remarkable double arcade within the chancel area supported by columns with intricately carved capitals showing human figures in dancing and fighting poses.
