Burgos Museum

The Museum of Burgos occupies two Renaissance-era palaces and displays archaeological artifacts alongside paintings and artworks spanning multiple galleries. The collections range from early medieval objects to 20th-century pieces, providing a broad overview of regional history and creativity.

Founded in 1846, this institution moved several times before establishing itself at Casa de Miranda in 1955. Since then it has preserved findings from prehistoric settlements to the medieval period, documenting the long human presence in the region.

The collections feature works by regional artists and crafts from different periods, showing how local artistic traditions developed over time. Walking through the galleries, you notice how these pieces reflect the creative identity of the region across centuries.

The building is centrally located in Burgos and easily reached on foot, with clear signage throughout the galleries and rooms. You can move through the exhibitions at your own pace and spend as much or as little time as you like in each section.

The collection includes a striking Roman mosaic featuring a hunting scene that was discovered locally in the surrounding region. This artifact shows how valuable Roman artworks have survived in the archaeological record of the area.
