Palacio de Correos, Renaissance Revival postal palace in Plaza de la Rinconada, Valladolid, Spain.
Palacio de Correos is a postal building in Renaissance Revival style located at Plaza de la Rinconada. The structure features grand arches across two main floors and traditional red brick masonry, with a third level showcasing rounded windows.
The building originated from an architectural competition won by Jerónimo Arroyo in 1913, with construction completed in 1922. Its origins lie in Spain's early 20th-century postal service reform.
The building displays Spanish Renaissance elements through its decorative ironwork and plasterwork, influenced by Plateresque traditions of that era. These handcrafted details are visible on the facades and reflect the artistic taste of the early 1900s.
A central courtyard structures the interior and serves operational functions. The triangular plot requires patience when exploring, as the spatial layout is not immediately obvious.
In the 1970s, the original balustrade and tower were removed and a fourth floor was added. These alterations significantly changed its classical appearance.
