Playa Baño de las Mujeres, Mediterranean beach in Lorca, Spain
Playa Baño de las Mujeres is a beach on the Mediterranean coast in Murcia with roughly 40 meters of sandy shore mixed with pebbles. Low rock cliffs frame the water's edge and create an intimate cove set apart from surrounding areas.
This location sits within the Parque Natural Puntas de Calnegre, a protected area created to safeguard the natural coastal environment of southeastern Spain. The designation has helped keep the beach largely unchanged over time.
This beach has long been a place where local fishers work the waters at dawn, casting lines from the rocks below the cliffs. The tradition shapes daily life here and connects visitors to the maritime ways of the Mediterranean coast.
The route follows highway RM-11 toward Aguilas, then continues on RM-332 and RM-D21 until a dirt track with parking areas appears. Visiting is easiest during warmer months when access roads are in better condition.
The name comes from an old tradition where women gathered here generations ago to bathe and wash clothes on the rocks. Today the name still echoes this past use, though there is no visible trace of the practice now.
