Beach of Covas

Beach of Covas is an extended sandy stretch along the Galician coast with fine white sand and a consistent width throughout its length. It offers ample space for sunbathing and swimming across its full expanse.

The beach connects to a coastline with a maritime past, marked by a monument in its western section commemorating two vessels that sank here in 1810. The Os Castelos rock formations form a prominent part of this historical landscape.

The beach serves as a gathering point for Viveiro residents, where locals and visitors mingle in the daily rhythm of seaside life. Community events and local festivals happen regularly here, shaping the town's character throughout the year.

The beach has basic facilities including showers, toilets, foot wash areas, and waste bins with regular cleaning services. There is also a designated play area where children can safely enjoy themselves.

At low tide, natural rock formations emerge and create small pools, changing the entire shoreline, but these vanish completely when the tide returns. This constant shift means the beach looks quite different depending on the time of day and tidal cycle.
