Parque de Polvoranca

Parque de Polvoranca is a large nature park with lakes, gardens, and diverse ecosystems that spans across three municipalities. The site features open spaces, walking paths, and natural areas suitable for recreation and exploration.

A medieval village once occupied this location before it was absorbed by Leganés in 1849. The only visible remains from that settlement are the ruins of San Pedro Church.

The Environmental Education Center offers workshops, exhibitions, and guided tours for schools and families focused on nature conservation and sustainable living. These programs help visitors understand the park's different habitats and how they function.

The park is reachable via public transit from Madrid, and parking is available for those arriving by car. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the site is less crowded.

One of the lakes, Mari Pascuala Lake, is maintained at consistent water levels through a special waterproofing system that keeps it filled even during dry seasons. This engineering allows the park to preserve a functioning lake in an area with irregular rainfall.
