Safari Park Costablanca, Wildlife park in El Verger, Spain.
Safari Park Costablanca was a facility on a natural plateau divided into three main zones that visitors could explore by car. The areas displayed African large herbivores, tigers, lions, and a spacious aviary housing African bird species.
The park was established in 1977 and operated for over 30 years with a collection of approximately 460 animals from about 70 different species. Operations ceased in 2010 under the management of Terra Natura company.
The park played a role in conservation efforts and served as a research center for understanding animal behavior and medical care of big cats. Visitors experienced firsthand how such facilities contribute to wildlife protection and scientific knowledge.
Exploring the park required driving through the animal enclosures, though visitors could also walk through certain areas for a closer experience. The car route provided access to all three main zones in an organized way.
The site was located on protected terrain designated under European Union conservation legislation, which set it apart from typical zoos. This special status meant that animal exhibits coexisted with natural Mediterranean habitat protection measures.
