Platja de l'Almadrava

Platja de l'Almadrava stretches nearly three kilometers along Dénia's northern coast, blending sand and gravel in its shoreline. The beach widens and narrows along its length, creating different zones for swimming and walking.

The name comes from traditional tuna fishing methods that locals practiced since Roman times in this Mediterranean region. Fishing shaped how this coastal area developed over the centuries.

Local families gather at beachside restaurants during summer evenings to share meals and watch the water. The place functions as a social meeting point where people connect over food and the rhythm of the sea.

Wooden walkways lead down to the water and parking is available close to the shore. A lifeguard station operates during the day to monitor swimmers and respond to emergencies.

The Girona River flows into the Mediterranean at this beach, creating visible patterns where fresh water meets salt water. This natural phenomenon changes with the seasons and water flow.
