Basilica of Saints Justus and Pastor

The Basilica of Saints Justus and Pastor is a Gothic church in the Gothic Quarter with a single-nave interior and a polygonal apse. An octagonal bell tower from the 15th century rises prominently above the stone walls and can be seen from throughout the surrounding streets.

Construction started in 1342 on the site of a previous Romanesque church and continued for over two centuries until 1574. This extended building period reflects how architectural styles and techniques evolved from medieval times through the Renaissance.

The church is dedicated to two local saints whose names reflect Barcelona's religious traditions. The square in front serves as a gathering place where the building's presence shapes how people move through and use this corner of the old city.

The church sits in a central location within the Gothic Quarter, easily reached on foot from the main streets of downtown Barcelona. The surrounding square offers space to linger and a good vantage point to view the architecture and bell tower.
