Iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo

The Iglesia de San Pedro y San Pablo is a Baroque church on Tabarca Island with a rectangular floor plan and a single nave divided into sections by interior buttresses. Secondary chapels fill the spaces between these supports, creating a structured and organized interior.

Construction began in 1769 with a small chapel that was blessed just a year later in 1770, reaching full completion in 1779. This rapid development shows how essential a proper place of worship was to the newly established settlement.

The church served as the spiritual and social center for islanders, where the layout of chapels and burial spaces reveals how faith shaped daily community life. Walking through the nave, you sense the place where families gathered and marked life's important moments together.

The church can be entered through two separate doors: the main entrance on the west facade and a secondary entrance on the south side. These dual access points offer flexibility in how you move through the building and explore its interior.

The church is part of a larger complex that includes a priest's residence and school buildings right next to it. This arrangement reveals how religion and education were woven together in the life of the isolated island community.
