Casa Francesc Burés

Casa Francesc Burés is a six-story residential building with ornate stone carvings, stained glass windows, and mosaic tiles at the intersection of Girona and Ausiàs Marc streets. The structure occupies a full city block with detailed facades visible from multiple sides.

Textile industrialist Francesc Burés commissioned architect Francesc Berenguer i Mestres to build this structure between 1900 and 1905 as his company headquarters and residence. The project emerged during Barcelona's period of architectural innovation and expansion.

The building displays a blend of Catalan modernist and Art Deco design through carved wooden details, decorated ceilings, and fine metalwork that reflect the aesthetic preferences of its era. These handcrafted elements shape how visitors experience the interior spaces today.

The building is accessible from the street level, and visitors can view the exterior facades and certain ground-floor areas. The best time for photography is during morning or late afternoon when light highlights the fine architectural details.

The building originally combined office spaces for the textile company with the owner's private residence, an unusual dual function in the early industrial era. This arrangement reflects how important the textile industry was to Barcelona's economy at that time.
