Basílica de Santa Maria de Mataró

The Basílica de Santa Maria is a church combining Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical elements, rising in the center of Mataró's old town. The building features a single central nave flanked by side chapels, creating a structured interior space beneath a soaring height.

Construction of the current building began in 1675 under Milanese architect Ercolle Torrellio, replacing an earlier Romanesque church documented from 1054. The building's architectural layers show how styles evolved and merged across several centuries.
