Maresme

Maresme is an administrative region in Barcelona Province that stretches along approximately 50 kilometers of Mediterranean coastline. The landscape combines sandy beaches with mountain ranges and includes several dozen towns, many of them situated directly on the water.

The first railroad in the Iberian Peninsula connected Barcelona to Mataró in 1848 and ran through this region. This connection accelerated the growth of coastal towns and transformed their character.
