Mare de Déu dels Àngels de Llívia

Mare de Déu dels Àngels is a Gothic church whose interior features a central nave flanked by five lateral chapels on each side. Two circular towers rise at the front, giving the building a fortified appearance.

The structure rose in the 16th century on the site of a demolished castle, reusing materials from an earlier sanctuary dating to 1277. This recycling of older stone and foundations shaped how the building stands today.

The floor holds burial stones bearing inscriptions from local families, creating a tangible connection to centuries of community life in this corner of Catalonia.

The location in the center of Llívia's old town makes walking the most convenient way to explore the area. Access to the interior may be limited outside service times, so timing your visit around regular services works best.

The organ housed in the fifth chapel contains more than 1100 pipes and was built following traditional Catalan craftsmanship methods. This instrument's complexity reflects the importance the church held in its community.
