The construction of the current temple began in 1624 after Bishop Alonso Mejía de Tovar experienced a recovery attributed to the Virgin's intervention.
The sanctuary maintains a Via Crucis path with fourteen chapels containing 62 carved figures from the 18th century.
The main celebration takes place on September 8, with additional religious events during Holy Week and the Virgin of the Rosary festivities.
A river beach developed between two mills, with one mill notably constructed among rocks and featuring a stone slab roof.
