Karraspio, Golden sand beach in Mendexa, Spain

Karraspio is a dark-sand beach in Mendexa, at the mouth of the Lea river, which separates it from Lekeitio. At low tide it covers 140,380 m² and at high tide 28,380 m², with a width of 462 metres. The islet of Garraitz, also called San Nicolás, faces the beach.

The beach is named after the Garraizpia area, from the Basque Garraiz azpia, meaning "below Garraiz". Facing it is Garraitz, also called San Nicolás island, reachable on foot at low tide.
