Penyagolosa, Natural park in Castellón Province, Spain
The park contains the highest peak in Valencia Region at 1,814 meters, featuring extensive woodlands of black pines and Pyrenean oaks across 1,094 hectares.
The Generalitat Valenciana officially designated Penyagolosa as a natural park in 2006 to preserve its ecological environment and traditional mountain activities.
The Sanctuary of Sant Joan within the park serves as a destination for religious processions from surrounding towns, including communities from Teruel province.
Visitors can obtain information at the interpretation center La Casa Forestal in Xodos, which provides guidance about hiking trails and wildlife observation.
The park harbors specific plant varieties like the Cavanilles geranium, discovered and named after the Valencian botanist who first identified it.
