Molinos del Folón y del Picón, Historic watermill complex in O Rosal, Spain.

The Molinos del Folón y del Picón form a complex of roughly 60 stone buildings cascading down the slopes of Campo do Couto mountain. The structures are organized at different heights to harness water flow for grain milling operations.

The earliest mills began construction around 1702 and development continued through the 1700s to serve the grinding needs of surrounding farming communities. The site grew into an essential processing center that operated for generations.

The stone walls display carved inscriptions, names, and dates that record the histories of local families and mill operators who worked here over centuries.

A marked walking trail of roughly 3.5 kilometers connects all sections of the mill complex and includes information panels throughout the site. The route follows the natural slope of the terrain, guiding visitors through the different levels and areas at a comfortable pace.

The complex uses a clever system of channels and weirs that direct water sequentially from one mill to the next, extracting maximum power from the mountain stream. This water management system remains visible today and reveals the engineering knowledge of the original millers.
